The case dates back to the early hours of November 30, 2025, when the body of an adult female, identified only as Patricia, a resident of Nyabushabi cell, Kyanamira sub-county, was discovered in the compound of Nyakijumba Catholic Church.
The Kigezi region Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that officers visited, processed, and documented the scene. A crucial development occurred when a police sniffer dog was introduced to the location.
Maate added that the sniffer dog led investigators to a home neighboring the church, the residence of the then-at-large Andrew Ainamani. At this location, marks on the ground suggested it was the primary scene of the crime.
“There were marks of dragging on the ground from the house, meaning that [the victim] could have died there as it was the primary scene,” stated ASP Maate.
From the suspect’s house, officers recovered significant potential evidence, including pieces of a mattress and a blanket soaked with suspected bodily fluids. These items have been exhibited and sent for forensic analysis.
The body of the deceased was retrieved and taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
The Police spokesperson stated that investigators are working to piece together the full circumstances leading to the tragic discovery and to establish the precise relationship between the suspect and the victim.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
