He made the remarks today during a special Thanksgiving Mass held to celebrate his father, Mzei Valentino Buturo’s, 93rd birthday in Kyambogo, Magambo Sub-county.

The aspiring legislator urged congregants to always give thanks to God for blessings like health, family, and resources, emphasizing that gratitude is for everyone, rich and poor alike, and is the foundation for a prosperous life.

“We must always give thanks to God for the blessings such as good health, our children, resources, and even the challenges that strengthen us. This is for everyone, the rich and the poor alike. If we wish to be prosperous in life, we must start with thanksgiving,” Buturo stated.

The thanksgiving service, he explained, was organized to honour God for the gift of his father’s long life, his 93 years of faithful service, the resources granted to the family, and the blessing of children.

Hon. Bens Buturo praised his father as a kind and loving parent and mentor, while also commending religious leaders for uniting communities and guiding Ugandans spiritually.

Rev. Fr. Darius Magunda, who presided over the mass, emphasized that gratitude involves thanking God not only in times of blessing but also during hardship.

He hailed Mzei Buturo for his lifelong devotion and legacy of love, faith, and evangelism, while also urging Ugandans to honour and care for their parents while they are still alive.

The celebrant’s brother, Mr. Nkaburwa Vincent, also paid glowing tribute, highlighting Mzei Buturo’s “lifelong discipline, deep faith, and love of God,” which have inspired respect and dignity in the community.

He described him as a generous, kind-hearted, hardworking, God-fearing man and a role model in community development and for his grandchildren.

Mzei Valentino Buturo, brimming with joy at 93, expressed deep gratitude to his children, family, and friends for making the event colourful.

He encouraged everyone to adopt a lifestyle of gratitude to attract more blessings, reflecting on why many enjoy peace and prosperity yet forget to thank God, the source of all blessings.

The event stood as a powerful testament to faith, family, and the enduring importance of counting one’s blessings, serving as an inspiration for the Rubirizi community and beyond.
