KABALE – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Auditor, Mr. Moses Turyomurugyendo Ntahobari, has called on NRM-leaning independent contestants to withdraw from the 2026 general election if they truly wish to demonstrate their loyalty to the party and its Chairperson, President Yoweri Museveni.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In a press conference held on Monday in Kabale District, Ntahobari addressed the ongoing issue of independent candidates who have persistently campaigned under the NRM banner and declared allegiance to President Museveni. This has caused confusion among voters across the region.
Ntahobari, who also serves as the Kigezi Regional NRM Coordinator, is part of a 20-member team touring the region to strengthen grassroots mobilization for President Museveni and NRM flag bearers ahead of the 2026 general elections.
He stated that the problem of independent candidates claiming close ties with the party and its Chairman is a nationwide concern. However, President Museveni is actively addressing the issue by personally handing over flags to NRM candidates during his campaign rallies.
“Those claiming that they are sent by President Museveni or are working closely with him in this election should also explain why he did not give them the party flags when he visited their districts,” Ntahobari said. He described their actions as “moral misconduct” and urged them to “repent” and support the official NRM flag bearers instead.

Ntahobari explained that his team’s presence in Kabale District aims to equip NRM leaders with logistical and material support, including the NRM Manifesto and campaign shirts for agents, as they go door-to-door mobilizing voters for President Museveni and other flag bearers. He emphasized that their campaign strategy focuses on grassroots engagement, reaching every household.
“We are meeting Village and Cell leaders, providing them with necessary support, so they can go out and campaign door-to-door, encouraging people to vote for the NRM and President Museveni,” he stated.
