Undeterred by the district’s notoriously impassable roads, the aspirant took his campaign directly to the people, advocating for a politics of substance over symbolism.
He compellingly argued for prioritizing individual capability over blind party allegiance, positioning himself as the proven experts needed to effectively represent the district.
“Moving around with personal names on number plates doesn’t qualify someone to be a leader who fronts people’s needs. That clearly shows that you’re full of pride. I myself have the capability to do that, but due to the love for people, I prefer bringing development to our mother Rukiga District,” Dr. Rumanzi stated.
He revealed that Rukiga District has a slot for a ministerial seat, arguing that electing a candidate with the requisite academic stature and vision is crucial to claiming it for the district’s benefit.
He asserted that he’s the most suitable candidate to redeem this vacant seat, ensuring Rukiga has a direct and influential voice at the highest levels of government for the first time.
Dr. Benita Rumanzi laid out a concrete development plan, promising to establish two factories within the district in a direct initiative to combat rampant unemployment and lift citizens out of poverty.
“Our mission is twofold: to secure Rukiga’s ministerial seat to ensure our district is heard in the Cabinet, and to immediately translate that influence into jobs. That is why my concrete plan begins with establishing two factories to fight unemployment and poverty directly,” he added.
He further pledged a dedicated focus on improving the region’s ailing healthcare services and critical infrastructure, notably the very roads he navigated during his campaign.
The Rukiga County Parliamentary seat is shaping up as a highly competitive race, featuring four candidates: one on a major party ticket and the rest, including Dr. Benita, as independents.
