In a press release issued by Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson, police detailed a pattern of incidents they attribute to party supporters, including attacks on officers and property.

These reported assaults include an attack on an officer in Busia and a serious injury to another during an incident in Mayuge.

In the document, Kasasira confirmed that the police also cited an assault on a detective at a Kyankwanzi rally and the destruction of police vehicles.

Further incidents include property damage, such as a shattered police windshield in Kakumiro and an attack on a convoy in Lira that resulted in punctured tires and stolen equipment.

The documented violence also extended to civilians, with an assault by candidate bodyguards in Abim District and an attack on a journalist from Tayari Television in Kiruhura.

The police state their crackdown is not directed at all campaign participants, many of whom act lawfully, but is focused on individuals who repeatedly choose to confront officers and incite violence.

Ahead of a Bwizibwera Town Council rally, NUP Party leader Robert Kyagulanyi and his team were blocked after a rally at Mbarara High School, and several party supporters, commonly known as “foot soldiers,” were arrested.
