Rubanda, Uganda – Police in Rubanda District have arrested four individuals suspected of orchestrating a series of thefts and robberies targeting trucks along the Kabale-Kisoro Highway.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The arrests were made last night during an intelligence-led joint operation conducted by the Police and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), under the leadership of District Police Commander SP Tumwebaze J.B.
The crackdown is a key component of a broader regional strategy to wipe out violent crime across Kigezi. The suspects now in custody are identified as Turyamureba Kenneth, 31; Muhwezi Titus, 26; Tayebwa John, 32; and Twakire Agnes, 18.
Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that the operation, precisely executed in the Hamurwa area, led to the suspects’ apprehension and the recovery of a substantial quantity of marijuana.
Maate stated that the group allegedly used the narcotics to intoxicate themselves before carrying out their criminal activities.
“The operation is a clear demonstration of our commitment to restoring security and safety for all road users, especially our traders who are vital to the economy of this region,” he said.
The suspects are currently detained at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Rubanda, awaiting court proceedings upon the completion of ongoing inquiries.
