KANUNGU, UGANDA – Kanungu police are holding a 30-year-old secondary school teacher in custody for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in a bush as she hurried to Sunday prayers.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The suspect has been identified as Brian Akampurira, a teacher and resident of Ndeba Cell, Kihihi Town Council, who is alleged to have committed the crime on October 12, 2025, at around 11:00 in the morning.
Reports indicate that upon reaching Bright Future Primary School, the victim encountered the suspect, whom she knew by appearance, and was subsequently seduced, grabbed, and taken to a nearby eucalyptus plantation where she was defiled.
Despite her cries for help in the secluded area going unanswered, the victim was further threatened with death to prevent her from reporting the crime.
The Kigezi region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident, stating that a Good Samaritan assisted the victim by giving her a ride to Kihihi Police Station on her way home.
The suspect subsequently presented himself at the police station, where he was quickly identified by the victim as she was recording her statement, leading to his arrest and charge with aggravated defilement.
Maate added that upon the completion of police inquiries, the suspect will be produced before the courts of law to answer the charges.
