RUKIGA, UGANDA – The 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations have officially commenced in the districts of Kabale and Rukiga, with school centre heads successfully receiving the crucial examination materials from designated disbursement centres.

The process in Rukiga District was launched at the main examinations dispatch station, the Bukinda Area Storage Facility (Station 138), under the watchful eyes of security and administrative officials.
The Rukiga District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Kamusiime Zadok, confirmed his office’s readiness to oversee a seamless exercise.
He emphasized that multi-agency security teams are on high alert, deploying both overt and covert measures to ensure a peaceful environment and are fully prepared to swiftly tackle any security-related hindrance during the critical examination period.
Echoing the RDC’s sentiments, the Chief Scout from Bukinda Police Station, Mr. Mugarura Livingston, urged school centre heads to strictly adhere to the established UNEB guidelines.
He outlined a robust, top-to-classroom management system designed to ensure the exams are conducted securely and with integrity in a conducive environment.
The Area Supervisor for Station 138, Mr. Ruhangasiimwe Johnbosco, reported a timely and orderly start to the day, confirming that all school centre heads had reported on time and that the first paper commenced at exactly 9:00 AM.
He detailed the examination schedule, with morning sessions running until midday and afternoon sessions from 1:30 PM to approximately 5:30 PM.
Ruhangasiimwe added that all invigilators and scouts were present and that their allowances had been received, a measure taken to secure their full commitment to the examination process.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, reiterated the assurance of security and confirmed to the media that the examinations, which were safely stored at various centres, were being distributed normally to their respective destinations.
A total of 432,159 candidates from 4,308 examination centres across Uganda are sitting for the 2025 UCE examinations, which are scheduled to run until November 8, 2025.
This year marks the second cohort of UCE candidates being assessed under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
