KISORO UGANDA – Police have confirmed the death of a married couple in a fatal evening crash on the Kisoro-Kabale highway, a tragic incident that has cast a pall over the community.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The deceased have been identified as Sebahinzi Kenneth,40, and his wife, Ntiringanya Sylvia, 38, residents of Mubuga village, Gitendere parish, Nyarusiza sub-county, who were traveling on a blue Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (UDN 775S) ridden by Kenneth.
The accident occurred on October 2,2025, at approximately 6:20 PM in the Nyakabande area, opposite the Airland Hotel, involving a Mercedes Benz semi-trailer (KDR 693N/ZH5807) and the motorcycle carrying the couple.
Preliminary reports indicate the semi-trailer was traveling from the Kyanika border towards Kabale, while the motorcycle was heading from Nyakabande towards Kisoro town.
The driver of the semi-trailer is currently at large.According to police, the two vehicles were involved in a severe head-on collision near the Airland Hotel, which killed the rider and his passenger instantly.
The Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that the scene was visited, documented, and processed by a team led by ASP Ainomugisha Musa, the District Traffic Officer (DTO) of Kisoro.
Maate added that investigators have recorded eyewitness statements, and the bodies have been transported to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
He stated that inquiries are ongoing and a manhunt is underway to locate and apprehend the missing driver for questioning.
Both the damaged motorcycle and the semi-trailer have been impounded at Kisoro Central Police Station, pending a thorough inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV) to rule out potential mechanical failures.
The community of Mubuga village and Nyarusiza sub-county is mourning the sudden loss of the couple as authorities work to bring clarity and accountability for the tragedy.
