Mfitumukiza, who was recently handed the flag of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), was nominated by the Electoral Commission on Thursday, September 17, 2025, in a ceremony held in Rubuguri Town Council.

The newly nominated Pastor Mfitumukiza vowed to prioritize improved service delivery in his campaign and potential term, sharing his vision for Bitare Parish in Nyabwishenya Sub-county in an exclusive interview.

Driven by a deep-seated desire to foster tangible development within his community, he stated that his transition from the pulpit to politics has made improving service delivery his top priority.

He outlined a three-point agenda focusing on improving access to safe water, upgrading the area’s road network, and launching a community initiative to boost school enrollment.

“The people of Bitare need better access to safe water, improved roads, and greater awareness about the importance of sending children to school to create a better future for our country,” Mfitumukiza explained.

With his eyes set on the 2026 general elections, he issued a heartfelt call to the residents of Bitare Parish, urging them to place their trust and support in his vision.

He called on the community to rally behind his candidacy, emphasizing that their collective support is essential to bring about the positive change he envisions for the area.

“I call on the community to support me in the upcoming 2026 general elections, as I aim to bring positive change to Bitare,” he added.

The Electoral Commission is carrying out the nomination exercise for Local Council Governments up to the Presidency ahead of the upcoming general elections next year.
