KISORO, UGANDA – The aspiring Kisoro Municipality Member of Parliament, independent candidate Dr. Leo Mfitimana, has launched a comprehensive three-day free health camp aimed at treating a wide range of illnesses affecting residents across the district.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The camp, which commenced on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Kisoro Hill Primary School, is a direct response to the critical healthcare gaps observed by Dr. Mfitimana during his constituency visits.
Speaking to the media, Mfitimana revealed that his interactions in various villages exposed a distressing reality: many residents are suffering from treatable diseases but are unable to access medical care due to severe financial constraints.
He highlighted the strain on government facilities, noting that despite being overcrowded, they often lack essential drugs, leaving the most vulnerable without options.

To address this, Dr. Mfitimana confirmed mobilizing a substantial medical team, hiring over 80 doctors from various health facilities across the country.
These professionals are providing free medical check-ups, treatment, and medication with the sole aim of improving healthcare accessibility for the people of Kisoro.
The candidate emphasized that this initial three-day camp is just the beginning of a broader, sustained vision, with concrete plans already underway to systematically expand the initiative’s reach to the most remote villages across the municipality in the coming months.
Dr. Kasawuli Jamadah from Spiff Healthcare in Kampala explained that the initiative, which has attracted national partners, aligns with a broader mission of charitable service.
He noted that many Muslim doctors frequently come together to provide such essential services to communities in need through partnerships across Uganda.
Following concerning findings from a recent Kisoro District pilot study that informed the camp’s focus, Dr. Jamadah used the platform to make a fervent appeal to the government for better-equipped health centres to prevent avoidable deaths.
