The deceased, identified as Kakuru Gideon, also known as Hakizimana Kaboy, was allegedly assaulted after a dispute at a local bar.

The suspects Ndyamuhaki Posiano, Murokozi John, and their sister Nsimire Justine were detained in connection with the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Kanyankyende Cell, Nyabitete Parish, Bugangari Sub County.

According to preliminary reports, the confrontation began on the evening of July 26 at Nsimire Justine’s bar in Kanyankyende Trading Centre.

Gideon, who was reportedly romantically involved with Justine, allegedly made unwelcome advances toward her inside the bar, attempting to initiate an intimate encounter.

Witnesses stated that Gideon, who had been drinking, grew increasingly insistent in his demands, provoking intervention from Justine’s brothers. The situation escalated into violence, with the brothers brutally beating Gideon until he lost consciousness.

Area chairperson Habaasa Wilber arrived at the scene and arranged for the victim to be rushed to the hospital, but Gideon succumbed to his injuries en route. Police were immediately notified.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that authorities from Bugangari Police Station documented the crime scene and took the suspects into custody for further questioning.

Gideon’s body was transferred to Rwakabengo Health Center III for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Maate added that investigations are ongoing, and no further details have been released as police continue their inquiries.
