Speaking at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Goals in New York, where she presented Africa’s regional perspectives on SDG implementation, Nabbanja emphasized that the continent faces a critical financing shortfall of USD 1.6 trillion by 2030, which must be addressed to achieve sustainable development.

In her address, the Prime Minister highlighted key priorities for Africa, including targeted investments in youth empowerment, women’s inclusion, and digital transformation, alongside strengthening health and social protection systems.

She also stressed the importance of accelerating economic transformation, job creation, and the sustainable development of the blue economy, which presents significant growth opportunities for the continent.

Following her presentation, Prime Minister Nabbanja held a series of bilateral meetings with international leaders to bolster Uganda’s global partnerships.

Her discussions with Finland’s Prime Minister, H.E. Petteri Orpo, focused on mutual cooperation in digital infrastructure development and leveraging Finland’s expertise in SDG implementation to enhance Uganda’s strategies.

The two leaders also explored strategic initiatives in technology transfer and education system improvements to drive innovation and long-term development.

Later, Nabbanja met with Lord Collins of Highbury, the British Minister for Africa, UN, Commonwealth, and Human Rights, to discuss ways to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Uganda and the United Kingdom.

Their talks centered on expanding trade, increasing investment opportunities, and deepening bilateral cooperation.

Additionally, the Prime Minister engaged in discussions with Mr. Boris Titov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation, where they examined areas of mutual interest to enhance collaboration between Uganda and Russia.

Nabbanja’s active participation in the forum underscores Uganda’s commitment to advancing sustainable development while fostering international partnerships for shared prosperity.

Her engagements reflect the government’s dedication to addressing development challenges through global cooperation and strategic alliances.
