Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that a fatal accident occurred at around 8:00 PM on July 13, 2025, leading to the instant death of Bakesigaki, who was crossing the road.

Following the incident, police officers were promptly notified and visited the scene to document the incident, after which the motor vehicle was impounded for further inspection.

Investigations into the accident are ongoing, with police working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and a manhunt underway for the lorry driver who fled the scene.
