Hit-and-Run Horror: Kabale Man Dies Crossing Busy Highway

Kabale, Uganda – A devastating road accident on the Kabale-Mbarara Highway in Kabale district has claimed the life of a 56-year-old man, whose body is currently at Kabale Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.

The deceased, identified as James Bakesigaki, a resident of Bugarama, Kaharo Sub County, was allegedly hit by a Fuso lorry (UAT 262T) traveling from Kabale to Mbarara at Kaharo Trading Center.

Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that a fatal accident occurred at around 8:00 PM on July 13, 2025, leading to the instant death of Bakesigaki, who was crossing the road.

Following the incident, police officers were promptly notified and visited the scene to document the incident, after which the motor vehicle was impounded for further inspection.

Investigations into the accident are ongoing, with police working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and a manhunt underway for the lorry driver who fled the scene.
