Magogo Secures Historic Fourth Term as FUFA President

Hamlet Arinda July 6, 2025

Hoima, Uganda – Eng. Moses Magogo has been re-elected as President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for another four-year term following a decisive vote at the 101st FUFA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Hoima City.

The long-serving football administrator, who has held the position since 2013, will now lead Ugandan football until 2029 after securing overwhelming support from the assembly of delegates.

In his acceptance speech after securing an unprecedented 16-year tenure as head of Uganda’s football governing body, Magogo thanked delegates and pledged renewed commitment to advancing the sport.

“I thank the delegates for entrusting me and my colleagues on the Executive Committee to lead Ugandan football for another term. Our passion and commitment will only grow stronger. We will give our best, and I call upon all stakeholders to work with us in achieving our objectives for the development of the game,” Magogo stated.

Since taking office in 2013, Magogo has overseen significant milestones in Ugandan football, including improved performance of the national team Uganda Cranes, with consistent growth and strong performances in AFCON tournaments and World Cup qualifiers.

Other achievements include upgrades to stadiums such as the Mandela National Stadium renovation, establishment of regional training centers, enhanced grassroots programs, and the rise of Uganda’s U-17 and U-20 teams on the continental stage.

Magogo’s new term faces pressing challenges, including World Cup qualification, financial instability in club football, and the need to boost grassroots development.

While some critics call for fresh leadership to inject new ideas into Ugandan football, Magogo’s latest mandate reflects continued confidence in his leadership from the football community.
