A total of 25 officers, drawn from various police training schools, including Kabalye, Olillim, Ikafe, CID Training School Kibuli, Senior Command and Staff College Bwebajja, and child and family protection officers, are undergoing the training to enhance their capacity to handle GBV and VAC cases professionally.

The training’s objective is to promote a multiplier effect in addressing these issues nationwide, equipping the officers with the knowledge and skills to effectively tackle GBV and VAC cases.

Deputy Director Chief Political Commissariat, CP Hilary Kulayige, opened the course, urging the officers to utilize the acquired knowledge and skills to end violence against children and gender-based violence.

He emphasized the importance of professionally handling cases that fall under this discipline.

CP Kulayige expressed gratitude to the Centre for Domestic Violence Prevention (CEDOVIP Uganda), a non-governmental organization specializing in addressing domestic violence issues, for partnering with the Uganda Police Force to train officers.

The training is expected to have a significant impact on the police force’s ability to address GBV and VAC cases, promoting a safer and more supportive environment for victims.
