Kasese, Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni commissioned a series of completed road infrastructure projects worth Shs53 billion in Kasese Municipality on May 14, 2025.

The projects were constructed under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program, a World Bank-funded initiative launched in 2013 to improve urban infrastructure and service delivery in Uganda.

The USMID program provides funding for infrastructure development, including roads, markets, and water sources, as well as institutional capacity building.

The commissioned road projects in Kasese are a key component of this effort to enhance the town’s infrastructure and support economic growth.

During the commissioning ceremony, President Museveni was accompanied by high-ranking government officials, including Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and Minister Chris Baryomunsi.

Addressing a rally, Museveni emphasized the NRM government’s commitment to tangible development, stating, “We do what we say and say what we mean.”

Museveni highlighted the importance of prioritization, citing the Bible verse “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all other things shall be added unto you.”

“We’ve never lacked ideas, but prioritization is our challenge. As the Bible says, ‘Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all other things shall be added unto you.’ Transformation requires focus on key areas, not trying to do everything at once,” Museveni emphasized.

He emphasized that transformation requires focusing on key areas, rather than trying to tackle everything at once, adding that the NRM government follows a clear sequence, starting with what matters most.
