Mbonyebyombi made the call during a one-day workshop held at Seseme Girls Secondary School in Kisoro Municipality, aimed at equipping school heads with knowledge on compliance with Ministry requirements.

During the workshop, facilitated by a Ministry representative, the Inspector observed that some schools operate without licenses in unsuitable settings, including churches and homes with inadequate infrastructure.

Mbonyebyombi further emphasized the importance of compliance, warning that unlicensed and unregistered schools face challenges like closure and arrest.

“School proprietors should focus on providing quality education by obtaining all necessary requirements from the Ministry of Education and Sports. This will not only ensure the smooth operation of their institutions but also safeguard the interests of learners.” Mbonyebyombi said.

Participants at the workshop, including Anacklet Twinomuhangi of Mulehe Bright Future School and Scovia Tumushime of Bukerahe Parents School, appreciated the lectures, noting that they had gained insight into the importance of licensing and registration.

They acknowledged that some schools operate without following Ministry policies, which can negatively impact learners’ results and the school’s reputation.
