Coffee Heist Foiled, Police Use K9 Unit to Track Down Thieves

Bugiri, Uganda – The police in Busoga East Region, Uganda, with the help of a K9 sniffer dog, have apprehended two suspects for stealing coffee in Bugiri district.

Mugweri Paul and Okoi Joseph are the suspects under police detention, accused of stealing coffee from Bulenzi Dasan’s garden in Bango village.

Bulenzi Dasan reported the theft to the Budhaya police station after discovering his coffee had been harvested and stolen.

The police deployed their K9 sniffer dog, ‘Monica’, who tracked the suspects for approximately 1km, leading officers to Mugweri Paul’s home.

Mugweri Paul was arrested and revealed he sold the stolen coffee to Okoi Joseph where it was recovered at his home, and he admitted buying it from Mugweri Paul.

The two suspects are currently in detention, assisting the police with further investigations from which they will appear in court for their case mentioning once the necessary evidence has been gathered.
