Mpuuga’s Democratic Alliance lists down its 6-agenda points for 2025.

KAMPALA – UGANDA: The Democratic Alliance “a new political coalition” has pointed out a summarised 6-agenda point that ultimately seeks to reform several laws before the next general elections.

Addressing the media at Secretariat on Friday about the Democratic Alliance program activity plan for 2025, the Nyendo-Mukungwe municipality MP Hon. Mathias Mpuuga said that before the 2026 elections several reforms that are to be undertaken.

Mpuuga the National Coordinator of the Democratic Alliance said among the activities to be ensured this year include; emphasizing the key constitutional and political reforms, the conduct of just free & fair elections and the establishment of mechanisms for a peaceful transition.

Others include a framework for national truth and reconciliation commission, and mechanisms that guarantee continuity of peace and stability in the Country.

“We are calling for key constitutional and political reforms, the conduct of just free & fair elections, establishment of mechanisms for a peaceful transition, a framework for national truth & reconciliation commission, plus mechanisms that guarantee continuity of peace and stability.” MP Mpuuga highlighted.

Mathias Mpuuga added that the Democratic Alliance is in contact with various political actors and formations as well as CSOs for a series of interactions on issues relating to the national transition and reform proposals.

“Our Intention is to ensure that before the 2026 elections, we undertake critical constitutional and electoral reforms before we are enthusiastic about participating in the elections” MP Mpuuga added.

The Democratic Alliance, is a new political coalition aimed at uniting Uganda’s opposition forces to challenge President Museveni’s nearly four-decade rule.

At the official unveiling of the formation last year, the former Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga pledged that the Democratic Alliance would transform into a political party in the coming months, with plans to field candidates, including a presidential aspirant, in the next elections.

The National Coordinator of the Democratic Alliance, Mathias Mpuuga, has come up with six proposed reforms he hopes will give direction to the country.
