BREAKING! Former Prisons Officer to Contest for President of Uganda.

Former Prison Warder attached to Luzira Prisons, Mr. Boaz Taremwa, has announced his candidacy for the highest office in Uganda’s 2026 General Election.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Taremwa (24 years old), is the son of Kabale Based Social Worker, Erasmus Mwesigwa,  and grandson of the late Reverend Justsus  Barisene of Katojo Cell, Kijuguta Ward, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality in Kabale District, South Western Uganda  .

In an interview with this reporter, Taremwa revealed that he recently resigned from his job  at the Uganda Prisons  to pursue his aspiration to become President of Uganda. He intends to run as an independent candidate.

When asked why he chose not to affiliate with any political party, Taremwa explained that the current regime has a history of infiltrating opposition parties and causing disarray among their members.

“You’ve seen how the regime has successfully created confusion within the opposition. I won’t risk taking a path that leads to confusion,” he stated.

Taremwa’s key priorities include addressing corruption, improving service delivery, particularly in the health sector, enhancing road infrastructure, and resolving the human resource crisis in government agencies. Drawing from his experience as a Prisons Officer, Taremwa emphasized the need to improve working conditions for officers in prisons, police, and the UPDF.

“For Example I have been in prisons and I can assure you that those officers need someone to bring out their plight and take appropriate action. They work in an unpleasant environment, but no one seems to be planning to address that. Same applies to the other forces such as the Police and the UPDF. Of course I don’t expect them to lay a red carpet for me during campaigns, since we all know what usually  happens, but I will speak for them no matter what” he added.

If he indeed contests and wins the 2026 election, Taremwa will become Uganda’s youngest President of all time.
