The former archbishop Orombi was on Thursday Morning delivering his sermon at the Parliamentary End-of-Year Prayers and Thanksgiving Service.

This year’s Parliamentary prayers and Thanksgiving were held under the theme “The Power of Humble Prayer and Repentance.”

Luke Orombi appreciated the 11th Parliament for passing into law the controversial Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023, saying the practice of homosexuality is dehumanizing and makes those involved in it less than animals.

“Homosexuality started in the western hemisphere and technology transported it to Uganda, the big victims are the young people. I wonder how homosexuals expect to fulfill God’s command of multiplying and filling the earth if they are indulged in that form of sexuality” said Dr. Luke Orombi.

In her remarks, Speaker Among encouraged religious leaders to continue guiding and praying for the Parliamentarian that strive to build a united and prosperous nation.

The Speaker further asked forgiveness from all Ugandans for all the wrong things Parliament has done wrongly or unknowingly and committed to cleanse the Legislature, noting that the cleansing process not happen in a single day.

“We know cleansing an institution or cleansing anybody doesn’t take a day, we must cleanse this institution for us to be in an institution that is accepted by God. As a legislature, our work is complicated, when we do legislation, it may not go well with some other people, and we want to ask for forgiveness from those people whom we could have hurt in one way or the other. We want to ask for forgiveness and through forgiveness, we will manage to go to eternity and the laws that we make,” said Speaker Among.

The Speaker’s plea for forgiveness comes at a time, the Parliament is facing public criticism and scrutiny over allegations of corruption, nepotism, wastage of public expenditure, something that prompted groups of individuals to hold peaceful protests, demanding for the resignation of the Speaker.
