The fire outbreak that started at around 7:45 PM on reduced properties including blankets, mattresses, books, all Senior three pass slips, cases, basins, beds, clothes among others.

According to hostels patron Mr. Pidson Muhimbise, the Washington dormitory was accommodating over 120 students half of S.1, S.2, S.6, S.5 and all S.3 students and that by the time of the outbreak, the students were attending prep lessons.

The school head teacher Ms. Mpeirwe Monic Atukunda acknowledged the incident accounting her suspicion on the lightning that struck the building since it was raining and caused the electricity short circuit that resulted in the fire.

She said that by the time the police fire brigade came to their rescue, all the students’ belongings had turned into ashes but no student lost a life or was injured in the fire.

Ms. Mpeirwe, appealed to the ministry of Education and sports, ministry of disaster and preparedness, NGOs and all well-wishers to come to their rescue since all students’ belongings were burnt.

Dormitory captain S.3 student Bruno Niweahereza said that he doesn’t know how they will be pursuing revision since all their books and past papers perished in the fire.

Chairperson board of governors Rev Venerable Canon Yoram Akoragye and lay Canon Ezekiel Tumwesigye said they are puzzled over dormitory fire and are calling on school well-wishers and concerned stakeholders to support them socially and economically to have the affected learners continue with studies.

Councilor John Kabeho, also the board of governor member, said the good thing is that no student perished in the fire, emphasizing the importance of having support from well-wishers and that the school needs an emergency consideration.
