Electorates used as ladders by politicians. Rv. Fr Gaetano Batanyenda States

RUKIGA: In a striking condemnation of modern political practices, Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda has criticized politicians for allegedly using electorates as mere tools for personal gain.

In interaction with the senior lecturer at Makerere University Dr. Jude Katerega who doubles as the National Coordinator of the Ugandans below 40 Organization (UB40) Rev. Fr. Geitano called for a critical reassessment of political ethics and accountability.

Fr. Gaetano, a prominent advocate for social justice, asserted that current political trends reveal a shift about where leaders rank personal advancement over the needs of their constituents.

According to him, this approach undermines the core democratic principle of representative governance.

“Politicians have increasingly treated electorates as ladders to climb rather than communities to serve. The integrity of our political system is compromised when leaders view their positions not as a responsibility to the people but as a means to advance their personal agendas.” Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda Stated.

Adding another layer to his critique, Father Geitano highlighted a disturbing trend where politicians are allegedly exploiting church leaders to bolster their public image and gain electoral advantage.

He claimed that politicians are given prominent seats in churches and are publicly endorsed by religious figures, which he argues skews electoral decisions and undermines the separation of religion and politics.

Accompanied by the Deputy National Coordinator UB40 Moses Gumisiriza, Dr. Jude Katerega said that Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda remains a staunch proponent of political reform, underscoring the need for a system that genuinely serves the interests of the public rather than the ambitions of its leaders.
