The Prisons Service at Kitalya mini-max prison is said to have undergone a tremendous transformation, driven by its religious empowerment program coupled with an open-door policy.

The Word of Truth Prison Ministry’s recent discipleship graduation ceremony showcased the inmates’ journey of spiritual growth, self-discovery, and redemption.

Ms. Hilda Naigaga, Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Prisons, representing the Officer in Charge, commended the ministry’s efforts, saying that the program has brought a positive change in the inmates’ behavior and attitude.

“This program has brought about a positive change in the inmates’ behavior and attitude. We appreciate the partnership and look send to continued collaboration.” Said Hilda Naigaga.

By embracing divine interventions and such programs, Naigaga said that the service is rehabilitating inmates and preparing them for reintegration into society.

“We believe the Word of God has the power to change lives.” Naigaga emphasized.

According to Pastor Emma, the program’s leader, the initiative aims to awaken inmates to their identity in Christ, fostering a sense of purpose and responsibility.

Among the inmates have shared powerful testimonies, some say they were once consumed by darkness, but now are the light in the darkness, sharing Jesus’ message with others.

Some others testified that they were transformed from a life of witchcraft to a devout Christian, planning to hold a crusade in their village with one of them dedicating a piece of land to God’s work, after release.

Religious empowerment programs like this are among the rehabilitation and reintegration tools, offering a holistic approach to transforming lives of persons who came in conflict with the law.
