Journalists told to fight against Political tribalism in Uganda.

KANUNGU: The Deputy Director for National Water and Sewage Cooperation (NWSC) Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe has encouraged Journalists to preach against tribalism based on politics in the Country.

This was contained in her message read by the senior Lecturer at Makerere University while speaking to Journalists from Kigezi Sub Region at the Kigezi Media Symposium on Sunday at Kanungu Resort Hotel in Kanungu district.

The Kigezi Media Symposium was held under the theme “Mobilizing Ugandans for Social Economic Transformation,” aimed at encouraging Ugandans to join the Money Economy with (Ekibaro) through creation of awareness by the Media.

Representing the Deputy MD NWSC Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe, as the keynote speaker, the National Coordinator of the Ugandans Below 40 Organization (UB40) Dr. Jude Katerega encouraged people to send individuals based on their capacity to deliver not on their origin.

“We should stop looking at people according to their religions, Tribes and their family history but see beyond their capacities to deliver,” Said Dr. Jude Katerega.

Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe also appealed to journalists to join a money economy, by setting up small business outside the docket of their Job descriptions in a way of eradicating poverty among them.

Speaking to the Media after the engagement, Deputy National Coordinator UB40 Mr. Moses Gumisiriza said that the symposium was aimed at promoting unity and cooperation in the country.

As a former Broadcast Journalist Moses Gumisiriza pledged to use his new office in motivating Journalists to join the money economy as they can easily to be diverted from the main focus by the self-seekers.
