The call was made by Muwanga Kivumbi, Chairperson of Buganda Parliamentary Caucus, during a press briefing at the Parliament where he called upon the  people in Buganda to look back at the journey the Kingdom has walked.

He said that at one time, the Lubiri housed the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence, following the outlawing of cultural institutions in Uganda.

The Buganda Caucus also expressed gratitude towards God for the gift of life accorded to the Kabaka and appealed to all people in Buganda to continue praying for the Kabaka, to gain his strength and continue overseeing the affairs in the kingdom.

“As members of the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus, we take this opportunity to congratulate the Kabaka of Buganda, together with all people of Buganda, for celebrating 31 years since his coronation. We are also grateful to the Almighty God to have enabled the Kabaka to return to his mother land. And we also pray that he gets well and gains the strength to lead Buganda to the very expectation of our people,” said Kivumbi Muwanga.

Muwanga said, “Let us all unite together for things that unite us, we might have differences, but the people coming after us will not remember what our differences were, they will only remember our failure to unite. I think the whole mood that was in Buganda was of love, and strengthened the kingdom of Buganda just as the top five pillars of Buganda.”

The Caucus led  by Kivumbi, who also doubles as Butambala County MP also appreciated the Buganda Premier, Charles Mayiga for unifying the Kingdom during the time the Kabaka was out of the country noting,

“We take this opportunity to also thank in a special way all the leadership of the Buganda community, led by the Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga for having been able to unite the people of Buganda to lead the way, in the absence of the Kabaka. We pledge and pray that we shall always be loyal to Namulondo and we shall in all ways possible ender unity of purpose for the people of Buganda.” said said Kivumbi Muwanga.
