The suspects in Custody have been identified as Kamuhanda Evans 17 and Kamukama Apollo 43 both from Kaliba cell Bubaare sub-county who allegedly buried Amanya Charles of Kabujye cell in Sheema district alive.

The Police Spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga said that the incident happened on the 28th May 2024 at around 10am where the suspects accused the victim for stealing their phones, which forced them to tie him on a tree, and torture him.

Fred Enanga added that Later in the night, the two dug a shallow grave, where they dumped and buried the victim, who managed to crawl out to a nearby shack, where he spent two days till the 30th May 2024 when he was discovered and taken to police and thereafter transferred to Bubaare Health Centre for treatment.

“It is extremely saddening that the victim was held captive, tortured over a missing phone and dumped in a shallow grave by his co-workers. He was fortunate to survive such an ordeal”. Said Fred Enanga.

The Police Spokesperson said that the two suspects are charged with torture, conspiracy and attempted murder with the efforts on to trace the other suspects still at large to ensure that they are charged in court thus urging the public to observe rule of law and avoid such acts of impunity.

“We wish to inform the public that torture is a punishable crime and can lead to murder. We further urge the public to observe rule of law and avoid such acts of impunity”. Said Enanga Fred.
