The Wamala region police spokesperson, ASP Racheal Kawala, told the press that the police have obtained information on planned NUP consultative meetings on 4th June in Mityana District thus urging the public to shun the function.

“We have obtained information on plans by NUP in Mityana about holding a consultative meeting on 04/June/2024 in the district. We would like to warn all intending participants and other members of the public not to join the unauthorized processions.” Said Racheal Kawala.

Racheal Kawala added that the joint task force is slated to take very resolute enforcement action in accordance with the law against the illegal activities, thus urging the public to observe law and order.

“The joint task force will take very resolute enforcement action in accordance with the law against any illegal acts in order to promote rule of law. We therefore urge the public to observe law and order.” Said Racheal Kawala.

Police halting the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party consultative activities follows a deadly traffic incident in a procession at Maya along the Kampala- Masaka Highway last week, where 3 lives were lost, others injured.

The accident involved 02 motor vehicles and 04 motor cycles which were part of a motorcade in a procession of National Unity Platform (NUP) Leaders heading to Masaka for consultative activities.

The incident happened hours after the National Unity Party NUP engagement with the Police officers to ensure a smooth running of NUP Party activities in different parts of the country.
