The deceased has been identified as Christine Tusimomwe 62 who was assaulted and pronounced dead before admission to Kasoroza people’s clinic.

The arrested suspects were also identified as one Twinobusingye Monica and Kwesiga Jackson, both residents of Rugunda cell, Nyakabungo parish, Nyakagyeme in Sub County Rukungiri district.

It’s alleged that Tumwebaze Benedicto and his wife Twinobusingye Monica had domestic misunderstandings for 7 years from which they separated the beds and started sleeping in different rooms in the same house.

Tumwebaze Benedicto later fell in love with Tusiimeomwe Christine (deceased) and on Friday at around 8 PM, Benedicto invited Christine to his home.

While the two were seated in the bedroom, Monica, her son Mugarura Gilbert, Kwesiga Jackson and another unknown person attacked them armed with sticks and iron bars at around 9:00 PM.

They assaulted Christine critically, before they fled the scene leaving both Tumwebaze Benedicto and the deceased in the house and Benedicto called a boda boda rider who took the victim to Kasoroza people’s clinic, where she was pronounced dead before admission.

The Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate told the Media that Tumwebaze Benedicto reported the incident at Nyakagyeme Police station, and officers there visited the crime scene, examined, documented it and did a postmortem.

Maate added that a case of murder was registered on CRB: 624/2024 and the two suspects were arrested to assist in investigation as inquiries are at hand.
