The 10 days activity starts today 10th to 20th May 2024, and the Government has declared that today Friday be a Public holiday in respect to the Census Kick-off.

While addressing the Press at the Kabale District Headquarters on Thursday evening, the RDC said that they had not registered any cases of sabotage in the Census Preparatory stages, but he cautioned that his office will not hesitate to effect arrest of anyone found attempting to interfere with the Census activities.

“We have shared our contacts with all the Census Parish Supervisors, and they will be able to alert us in case anyone attempts to sabotage this program,” Nyakahuma said, emphasizing that the National Population and Housing Census is very vital for helping the Government to effectively plan for its people.

The Kabale Central Police station Officer in Charge – O.C, ASP Andrew Akanyijuka who represented the Kabale DPC at the press conference, revealed that they had tasked all the Officers in Charge of Police Posts across the District to ensure the safety and security of the Census Enumerators.

Andrew Akanyijuka further appealed to the people to accord the enumerators all the necessary cooperation and avoid interfering with their assigned duties.

Mr. Albert Bariho, UBOS Census Representative in Kabale District

Meanwhile, Mr. Albert Bariho who is representing the Uganda Bureau of Statistics – UBOS Commissioner for Census in Kabale District has allayed fears that the information collected could end up into wrong hands, exposing people’s private information to the public.

He noted that the enumerators had taken an oath of secrecy that would prevent them from spilling private information.

A total of 983 enumerators have been deployed to handle the census activities in 15 Sub Counties and Town Councils that make up Kabale District and will be supervised by 125 Parish Supervisors, and 30 Sub county supervisors.

Three more special census enumerators have been deployed to handle the Police and other three to Prisons officers.
