The suspects have been identified as Asiimwe Amon 16 a resident of Kinoni cell, Bugangari Parish/Sub County and Orikiriza Joshua 14 a resident of Kibobo cell, Mashongora parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County, both herdsmen from Rukungiri district.

According to the Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate the two allegedly killed Derrick Niwahereza 18 a herdsman and a Resident of Bugorogoro cell, Kyabugashe parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County also from Rukungiri district.

It’s alleged that at around 12:00 PM Yesterday Friday at Rwenkuba Hill Kagashe cell, Bugangari Parish/ Sub County, as both were grazing cattle, Derrick and Amon agreed to start playing kick boxing to each other.

Amon kicked Derrick harder from which Derrick picked a stone and hit Amon on the chest inflicting him an internal pain, and immediately, Amon ran to where Joshua was standing while holding a long stick “orubango”.

Amon disarmed it from Joshua and hit it on the head of Derrick that caused him to fall down before both the two Amon and Joshua left him helpless while bleeding furiously from the head and went to their homes.

Immediately one Rukundo Amston who was digging at the bottom of the hill (Rwenkuba) who was seeing all that took place notified the GISO Bugangari Mr. Mini Onzo, who alerted the Bugangari police.

Maate said that a murder case was opened at Bugangari police station, ahead of the officers visiting the scene of crime, examining and documenting it and the suspects arrested to help in investigations.

He added that the body of the deceased was taken to Rwakabengo health center III for postmortem and Murder by Assault case registered at Rukungiri central Police station under the file Number CRB: 443/2024.
