In a bitter exchange of words with the Mayor Rwentobo-Rwahi Town Council Hon. Turyasingura Edison who and the Town Council executive Committee were seen sited outside the padlocked offices in protest of the transition, the officials said that with or without Leaders blessing, they must enter a new Town Clark in the Office.

Speaking to this reporter after the pulling of hands by both the stakeholders, the Mayor Rwentobo-Rwahi Town Council Hon. Turyasingura Edison pointed a finger at the Deputy CAO Mr. Mbabazi Lawrence for not listening to a number of Petitions against Mr. Joga Bright as a New Town Clark, basing on his background in different offices.

The Mayor said everything was done behind his back, without any alert or notifying the Town council Leadership on any transition thus pledging not in any way, work with the New Town Clark on executing their day to day activities.

“We are protesting the appointment of Mr. Joga Bright following the several petitions to the office of the deputy Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Mbabazi Lawrence with whom we and the district stakeholders have had meetings over the transfer this Town Clark but it seems the Deputy CAO has interests he’s chasing. They have broken into our offices at the guard of a full Ntungamo district battalion but we are not ready to work with this town Clark” said Turyasingura Edison.

When asked of the suspected money swindling saga within the Town Council stakeholders, the Mayor said that if the officials suspicious on fraud within the Town Council, they should send an Auditor to Audit the books of the Town Council, not basing on hearsay story and force Leaders on the Hill against the Valley.

Hon. Muhinda Fred the Keina Ward LC III Councilor Confirmed to this reporter that there has been no any report Read to them since December last year as the Council, which is supposed to be sitting every after 2 month had not sat for once with a delayed laying of a 2024/2025 financial Year Budget for the Town Council.

He called for a proper Forensic audit to uproot the fraud saga among Town council stakeholders, suspecting swindling a huge amount of money, meant for accomplishing a number of projects including the 200 million for the construction of the Town Council offices.

“We have not had a council meeting since December last and we hear that there’s a lot of money which has been swindled by the Mayor and his team. The town council was allocated 200 million towards the construction of our Town Council office but we hear that that money was eaten” said Muhinda Fred.

Ntungamo District has been involved in a lot of Corruption scandals, following a 2022 ghost hospital and Health Centers, Ghost Health workers, a saga that brought the attention of the Anti-Corruption unit to dispatch a team to investigate the matter.
