This call was made by the Director in charge of Advocacy at the IGG’s Office, James Penywii in meeting with the Masaka Sub Region officials in an anti-corruption drive in the area.

James said that declaring of assets and liabilities is not done to prevent people from accumulating wealth but to hold Civil Servants accountable when the public resources pass through their hands and that the assets are entrusted to them.

“You must declare every two years. This is not done to prevent you from accumulating wealth, the law is just taking the role of showing you that you have been given a responsibility, all the public resources pass through your hands, the assets you’re the ones keeping it” said James Penywii.

The Regional Inspectorate Office Masindi Mr. Sam Agaba said that they have cases of forgery accountabilities, absenteeism of both health workers and Teachers, Impersonation, Drug stock outs, Mistreatment of the Waana inchi among others.

He assured the public the office of the IGG is in Place to address people’s complaints urging the Public to always speak up when such issues come to their attention.
