Kampala, Uganda – The Ministry of Health is running a two-day integrated medical camp providing free health services, essential screenings and health education to all staff members in an initiative designed to promote employee wellness.

The camp, which began on Thursday and ends today Friday August 22 2025, is providing critical services including screening for non-communicable diseases like high blood sugar and hypertension as well as testing and counseling for HIV/AIDS.

A key component of the event is health education and awareness, empowering staff with knowledge to manage their well-being proactively.

The health drive, held at the Ministry of Health headquarters for convenience and accessibility, witnessed a significant turnout with staff members participating enthusiastically.

During a visit to the camp yesterday, the Minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng expressed her delight at the overwhelming response and commended the staff for their participation, emphasizing the importance of health and wellness.

“It was great to see our staff turn up in large numbers and prioritize their own health at the integrated medical camp at MOH,” Dr. Aceng stated.

She delivered a powerful message on the broader impact of such initiatives, emphasizing that “only by first taking care of our own health and well-being can we effectively care for others.”

The medical camp supports the Ministry’s preventive healthcare goals through early detection of conditions such as hypertension and diabetes to reduce the disease burden and foster a culture of health consciousness.
