Rukiga, Uganda – Former Sheema Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Frank Besigye Kyerere has lost his bid for NRM positions at the parish level.

Kyerere, the current NRM Chairperson of Rwamucucu Sub County, contested for three positions at Murambi Polling Station in Nyarurambi Parish but was unsuccessful.

Kyerere’s bid for the NRM Chairperson position ended in defeat, with Elia Niwamanya Kihumuro emerging victorious with 159 votes, surpassing Kyerere’s 131 votes.

Undeterred, Kyerere opted to run for the positions of vice chairman, general secretary, and publicity secretary.

However, his behavior during the electoral process raised concerns, with allegations of intimidating voters and interfering with the returning officers’ work.

Kyerere demanded a fresh vote, but the public and voters protested, turning against him.

In a dramatic turn of events, Kyerere left the scene when confronted by EYE Television cameras, abandoning his wife, Provia Kyerere.

In other results, Kampikaho Alexander, the former Rukiga District LC5 Chairperson, won the vice chairperson position with 71 votes, defeating Twinomugisha Sam who secured 62 votes.

Hon. Amedi Bende, the LC5 Councilor representing Mparo Town Council, was unopposed in the NRM LC2 position.

The outcome of the elections marks a significant development in the local politics of Rukiga District, with the winners set to take on key roles in the NRM’s parish-level structures.
