Kasese, Uganda – School properties worth millions were destroyed in a fire outbreak at Fr. Kayonza Secondary School in Kinyamwengye Village, Karungibati Ward, Hima Town Council, Kasese District.
The fire ravaged the school’s roof and library, damaging books and beds. Fortunately, no lives were lost.
The Hima Division Police, led by DPC SP Bwire Nerima Suzan, and the Hima Cement Factory Fire Brigade responded swiftly, bringing the fire under control and preventing further damage.
According to Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the cause of the fire is yet to be established, and investigations are ongoing.
The police are working to determine the origin of the blaze and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
The school and authorities will conduct a thorough assessment of the damage and work towards restoring the affected areas.
