Luwero, Uganda – Police in Luwero district have launched an investigation into a counterfeit cement case that occurred on Saturday at Kasana market and Kalongo zone.

According to Savannah Region police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima, the OC Station Luwero received a tip on Friday about a hardware store at Kasana along Kasiso Road manufacturing counterfeit cement.

The police swiftly responded by arresting Onyango Ronald, cordoning off the scene, and conducting a thorough search of the hardware store and Ronald’s residence in Kalongo.

Several exhibits were recovered, including suspected counterfeit bags of fake Tororo, Hima, and Fundi cements, empty packaging bags used to package the counterfeit cement, and suspected counterfeit materials discovered in two ordinary sacks.

Twiineamazima confirmed that two suspects, Onyango Ronald and Mutesasira Dauda, were arrested to aid in investigations.

A case of counterfeit was registered, relevant statements were recorded from witnesses, samples were collected for further analysis, and the affected companies have been informed to provide statements as inquiries continue.
