Lower Local Government Leaders from Rubanda district were abuzz with excitement as they toured the construction site of the highly anticipated District Hospital in Muko Subcounty.
The Shs 18.5 billion project, under construction by the UPDF Engineering Brigade, is expected to revolutionize healthcare delivery in the District with its state-of-the-art facilities, Medical equipment and highly qualified medical staff.

The hospital’s design boasts impressive features, including two theaters equipped with modern medical equipment to provide surgical services, four patient wards, administration block, six storied blocks for Staff accommodation, and a mortuary to aid in handling deceased patients.
During their tour today, the leaders also inspected other notable projects, including the District Council Hall and Office Block valued at Shs 3 billion, and the District Health Office worth Shs 980 million.

Deputy Mayor Habuhutu Town Council, Ms Ayebare Fabias Nkwasiibwe, praised the strategic lobbying efforts of District leaders, particularly State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi and LC5 Chairman Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba.
“This is an indication that our Government is capable of handling issues regarding service delivery in the health care, but also an indication that Kasyaba’s administration has maximumly utilized Musasizi’s position at the Ministry of Finance,” she said

Ruhiija Subcounty NRM Chairperson Marius Ariganyira commended the hospital’s design, highlighting the benefits of having a mortuary, theaters, and increased medical staff.

Muko Subcounty LC5 Councilor Vincent Kibuye also attributed the successful acquisition of funds to strategic lobbying by Minister Musasizi.

Chairman Kasyaba explained that the tour aimed to keep Lower Local Government leaders informed about the district’s initiatives to improve service delivery, particularly in healthcare.

“Usually, our lower local Government leaders do not know what is happening at the District level, yet what we do affects them and the people they lead. So, we find it important to let them know,” Kasyaba said

With an expected completion date of June 1, 2025, elevation of Muko HC.IV to Hospital status is expected to transform the healthcare landscape in Rubanda district.

According to the D.H.O Dr. Abdon Birungi, Muko HC.IV is one of the most significant Health facilities in Rubanda District, with over 120 mothers delivering at the facility each month and up to 40 of them delivering by cesarean section. This number is expected to double after completion of the Hospital in July this year.
