Ntungamo, Uganda – The Viva Caring Hearts Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Ntungamo municipality, recently conducted a career guidance session for students at Rubaare Secondary School in Ntungamo district.

The foundation, led by its founder, Mr. Eric Kahumuza, emphasized the importance of identifying talents and future professional dreams at an early age.

During the session held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, Mr. Kahumuza urged students to discover their strengths and passions, stressing that this helps them stay focused on their goals.

He highlighted a common challenge faced by Africans, where many students attend school without a clear idea of what they want to achieve in the future, often leading to unemployment and disillusionment.

The foundation’s programs manager, Ms. Phiona Akantorana, and another speaker, Ms. Gorret Turyahebwa, echoed Mr. Kahumuza’s sentiments, advising students to choose subjects that align with their future aspirations.

They also encouraged students to stay in school and make informed decisions about their academic and professional paths.

The head teacher representative, Mr. Onesmus Karamuzi, expressed appreciation for the career guidance campaign, noting that such initiatives motivate students to determine their future goals and make informed decisions about their studies and careers.

Senior Six students Eugine Ariimpa and Rachael Asiimwe expressed concerns about parental pressure to pursue courses that may not align with their interests or strengths, emphasizing the need for students to have a say in their academic and career choices.

The Viva Caring Hearts Foundation has called on schools, tertiary institutions, and colleges to partner with them to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate their future successfully.
