Kampala, Uganda – Naguru Businessman Fred Kirenga has been taken into custody and remanded until July 8, 2025 after being charged with fraudulently procuring a Certificate of Title.

Kirenga appeared before the Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday, accused of collaborating with others to fraudulently obtain a Certificate of Title for Block 311, Plots 36 and 37 in Gomba District on June 15, 2020.

The prosecution claims that Fred Kirenga and his alleged accomplices knowingly and intentionally procured a second title, despite being aware that a prior title for the same land already existed, thereby committing fraud.

This development follows an ongoing investigation into the fraudulent creation of land titles involving property belonging to Madhvani Group Ltd, specifically FRV 60, Folio 4, in Gomba District.

Several other individuals have already been charged in connection with the case, including Jasper Kakooza; Vincent Mugenyi, Acting Commissioner of Surveys and Mapping; the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Gomba District; and nine others.

The accused face charges related to their alleged roles in the fraudulent creation of titles, with the case adjourned to July 8, 2025, for further proceedings.

As the trial continues, the Anti-Corruption Court will determine the fate of Fred Kirenga and his co-accused, highlighting the government’s efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability in land administration.
