Kabale District – Preliminary results from the NRM flag bearer race in Ndorwa West Constituency, Kabale District, show Eliab Mporera leading with 24,951 votes against Bahati’s 23,589 votes, according to partial results from eight sub-counties. The current margin stands at 1,362 votes as vote counting continues across the constituency.

The results reveal a closely contested race with both candidates showing strong support in different areas. Eliab dominated in Kamuganguzi with 6,503 votes compared to Bahati’s 4,726, while Bahati took the lead in Katuna with 2,167 votes against Eliab’s 1,950.

Kitumba sub-county emerged as Bahati’s strongest area where he secured 6,517 votes, nearly doubling Eliab’s 3,786 votes there.Other sub-counties showed mixed results – Eliab maintained leads in Kahungye (2,812 votes), Butanda (3,410 votes), Ryakarimira (2,520 votes) and Rubaya (2,181 votes). The race was tightest in Kibuga sub-county where Bahati edged out Eliab by just 66 votes (1,855 to 1,789).

NRM electoral officials have cautioned that these are preliminary results from about 60% of polling stations, with final results expected later tonight.

Both campaigns have deployed agents to monitor the ongoing tallying process at Kabale District headquarters.Security has been tightened around the tally center following reports of minor skirmishes between rival supporters in some areas.
