Kisoro, Uganda – The Bishop of Muhabura Diocese, Rt. Rev. Godfrey Mbitse, has called on churches to include latrines within pastoral houses to ensure safety at night.
Bishop Mbitse made these remarks during the confirmation of 53 Christians into the Anglican faith at Muko Church of Uganda Parish in Muko Village, Nyarutembe, Nyabwishenya Sub-county, Kisoro District.
The Bishop noted that building latrines within pastoral residences would protect priests from potential nighttime dangers, as they currently risk exposure to various threats when going outside to use the toilet.

Mbitse also urged Christians to shun corruption and robbery, which he described as common evils in the country, particularly among office workers who often solicit bribes disguised as favors.
Bishop Mbitse emphasized that office workers have a sacred duty to serve and welcome clients with integrity, rather than exploiting them by demanding bribes or favors, which undermines the very fabric of public service.
Furthermore, the Bishop appealed to married couples to prioritize love, understanding, and respect in their relationships, urging them to avoid domestic violence and conflicts that can harm their homes.
He underscored that cooperation and mutual understanding are the bedrock of strong, resilient families, enabling couples to navigate life’s challenges with unity, love, and collective strength.
