The one-day overnight prayer event, organized by the Kisoro Scripture Union area and attended by over 2,000 people at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme, aimed to spiritually fortify learners and address deep-seated issues plaguing the education sector.

The session commenced at 6:00 PM and ran until 7:00 AM Saturday morning, creating a night dedicated to prayer, reflection, and seeking divine guidance for the academic term ahead.

Speaking to the media, numerous pupils shared that the overnight prayers offered a renewed sense of confidence to pursue their education, particularly for those who had previously lost hope.

They expressed gaining invaluable lessons on core values such as discipline, respect, and the critical importance of education.

Several attendees also held a firm belief in the power of prayer to invoke practical solutions, from helping their parents find school fees to addressing physical ailments like poor eyesight that hinder learning in the classroom.

The event was officially opened by Jimmy Kakuru, chairperson of the Kisoro Scripture Union Area, who emphasized that such prayers are crucial at the beginning of a school term to shield learners from negative spiritual influences that can derail their academic and personal lives.

He provided a compelling rationale for the event, explaining that students often suffer from afflictions that transcend the physical realm, such as witchcraft, poisoning, hatred, and spiritual illnessesailments he claims often go undiagnosed and unhealed in conventional hospitals.

Kakuru noted that many individuals report profound healing and spiritual relief from these events, and drew a direct connection between these sustained spiritual efforts and improved school environments.

He asserted that the continued prayers and active spread of the Gospel have significantly contributed to the noticeable reduction of strikes and chaos in schools across the district, framing faith as a vital tool for restoring order and purpose among the student body.

As the night continued, the gathering stood as a testament to the community’s collective effort to combat educational challenges not only through policy but through faith, seeking a holistic transformation for its youngest members.
