Min. Sarah Mateke Urges Women to apply for GROW project funds.

KISORO: The Minister of state for Defense and Veteran Affairs (Defense) Hon Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi has implored women in small and medium enterprises to apply for GROW project funds to boost their businesses.

The Minister said this while presiding over a one-day workshop for the businesswomen in Kisoro District yesterday Friday, a faction held at Mubano Hotel in Kisoro Municipality.

Min. Sarah Mateke, also Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament told women to see beyond their limits, use the available opportunities to boost their Business as most of them have remained stuck because of failing to access funds.

Joel Acen, the team leader of Grow Project at the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development said GROW aims at increasing access to entrepreneur services that enable the female entrepreneurs to grow their enterprises in targeted locations in Uganda.

He added that this project also focuses on identifying the gaps which are limiting women in doing business and building them structures in the market where they are breastfeeding children and a changing room to help them save time in the market to avoid losing money.

“Grow project also targets refugees in the country who are doing business together with their host community so that they are able to support their livelihood through income generating activities,” said Acen Joel Acen.

A One day workshop was attended by over 200 women from different sub counties and town councils within Kisoro district.
