Salary Delays Hit Uganda Police Officers Due to Administrative Issues

Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Police Force has addressed concerns over missing salaries for some officers, citing various administrative and technical issues.

According to a statement released by the police spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma on Thursday, police officers are generally paid their salaries at the end of each month, but isolated cases of delays have been reported.

Some of Causes of Salary Delays highlighted in the statement include; Inconsistencies in service records and payroll details trigger payment rejections and Some officers lacking essential documents, such as national IDs or appointment letters, or have errors in their birth records.

Other salary sabotage include; discrepancies between officers’ bank details and payroll system records cause salary transactions to fail, Officers who abandon duty and lawfully removed from the payroll, with reinstatement dependent on disciplinary reviews.

Mistakes during data audits has been cited on resulting to premature retirement of some officers due to conflicting information from the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) not forgetting the Transition to a new Human Capital Management System introduced record reorganization, occasionally leading to salary processing errors.

Kituuma further confirmed that the Uganda Police Force is committed to resolving these human resource challenges, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries.

He added that a structured procedure is in place for removing and reinstating officers on the payroll, involving verification and authorization by the Directorate of Human Resource Administration.
