Col. Emmy Katabazi Honored with Prestigious Rwenzori Star Medal

MUBENDE. In a grand ceremony marking the 39th NRM Party liberation day, Colonel Emmy Katabazi, the Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO), was today bestowed with the esteemed Rwenzori Star Medal by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The Momentous event took place in Mubende District.

The Rwenzori Star Medal is a distinguished military decoration awarded to members of the Ugandan army who demonstrate exceptional gallantry and selflessness.

As the third highest military decoration in the Ugandan army, this medal represents the pinnacle of bravery, loyalty, and commitment to the nation’s defense. It embodies the values of courage and valor exhibited by recipients in the face of adversity, serving as a beacon of inspiration for the next generation of soldiers.

The medal also recognizes significant contributions to national security, underscoring the critical role that recipients have played in safeguarding the nation.

The Rwenzori Star Medal derives its name from Mount Rwenzori, the second-highest mountain in Africa. This namesake serves as a reminder of the majesty and grandeur associated with this prestigious award.

 The conferral of the Rwenzori Star Medal upon Col. Emmy Katabazi is a testament to his remarkable achievements.

By conferring this honour upon Col. Emmy Kabazi, the Ugandan People’s Defence Force (UPDF acknowledges his outstanding service and dedication to the nation.

This medal comes barely a year after the DDG ISO was promoted from the rank of Lt. Colonel to Colonel, a senior officer rank and the fifth highest in the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF).

Col. Katabazi, whose humble background has deep roots in the hills of Rurembo Village, Muko Subcounty in Rubanda District, South Western Uganda, has been a notable figure in the UPDF especially in recent years.

He is widely known for holding remarkable lectures about Patriotism, Pan Africanism and Social Economic Transformation in several academic institutions of higher learning across the country, emphasizing on Mindset Change.

Col. Katabazi has also been invited as a Keynote Speaker on different occasions to address political leaders, Public servants, members of security agencies, among others at the National Leadership Institute – NALI, in Kyankwanzi District.
