KISORO – Flight Captain Arthur Mugisha Rucakatsi, popularly known as Bubu, has pledged to prioritize the safety, health, and financial literacy of boda boda operators in Kisoro District.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Captain Mugisha made the commitment during a handover ceremony for the newly elected leaders of the Kisoro United Boda Boda Operators Association (KUBO) at Mondi Hotel in Kisoro Municipality.
As the installed patron of the association, Captain Mugisha donated 100 helmets to KUBO and pledged to deliver another 100 helmets every month until all 8,000 boda boda riders targeted by the initiative have access to protective headgear.
Capt. Mugisha further pledged 100 bags of cement and Shs2 million for KUBO’s construction. He urged boda boda riders to value their lives above money, noting that they are among Uganda’s worst-hit road accident victims.

The new patron also emphasized the importance of financial literacy among boda boda operators, calling for programmes aimed at promoting saving discipline and responsible management of their earnings.
Capt. Mugisha emphasized that the two-year leadership term should focus on improving the welfare and safety of riders, adding that he is committed to supporting KUBO members through capacity-building programmes.
KUBO Association Chairperson Kalangara Robert thanked members for entrusting the new leadership with responsibility and urged the executive to serve the interests of the members rather than pursue personal benefits.
Kalangara also firmly warned all members to strictly adhere to KUBO Association’s regulations, stressing that anyone found violating the association’s established rules will face immediate expulsion.

The newly elected executive members condemned individuals who undermine the boda boda profession and called for greater respect for riders, who play an important role in Uganda’s transport sector.
