KASESE – Police in Kasese District have commenced a thorough inquiry into the shooting and wounding of a man following an alleged trespass attempt at the home of a senior military officer.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The victim has been identified as Kule Zakaria, who reportedly attempted to force his way into Col. Jet’s residence around midnight on June 28, 2026, in Kabuyiri 1 Village, Mbondwe, Kasese District, for as-yet-unclear reasons.
The Rwenzori East Regional police spokesperson, ASP Maate Elly, confirmed that reports indicate the victim’s unauthorized entry attempt led the on-duty security guard, Private Wandera Allan, to fire his weapon, wounding the victim in the leg.
Medical personnel have since confirmed that Zakaria sustained a compound fracture and was immediately rushed to Bwera Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition.
Private Wandera Allan promptly reported the matter to Mbondwe Police Station, and law enforcement officers visited the scene shortly thereafter to collect evidence and document the incident.
“We are currently conducting thorough inquiries to establish the truth of the matter. Police are committed to ensuring a transparent and comprehensive investigation into this unfortunate incident,” stated Elly Maate.
Maate added that the investigation aims to uncover the precise circumstances and motive behind the attempted trespass, while carefully assessing whether the security guard’s response was proportionate to the threat perceived.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed that all legal protocols will be strictly observed, and they have pledged to make the investigation’s findings fully transparent upon its conclusion.
Officials are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist the inquiry, as every effort is being made to ensure a complete and just resolution for all involved.
