KASESE – The Kasese businesswoman narrowly escaped death after she was waylaid on her way home from the market and assaulted with a hammer by her boyfriend and an accomplice in an attempted robbery.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The victim has been identified as Nakabira Florence, 35, a resident of Kyababinga cell in Central Division, Kasese municipality, who was attacked at her own residence while returning from the market.
The suspects have also been identified as Kasaija Khasim, 37, and Amaryire Habibu, 40, a casual worker, both residents of Kasunganyaja trading center in Bunyangabo district.
Sources indicate that on Friday at 9:00 pm, the victim was allegedly attacked at her home and hit with a hammer on her left cheek, before she raised an alarm, and neighbours quickly responded to her distress calls.
The Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that the two suspects were arrested at the scene of the crime and immediately taken to Kasese Central Police Station (CPS), where they are currently being detained.
Maate has since urged renewed community vigilance following the incident, stressing that safety begins with mindful friendships and swift reporting of any warning signs.
“Our people should be mindful of the individuals they choose to befriend. Once they discover that someone in their circle exhibits criminal tendencies, they should report them to relevant authorities to avoid such unfortunate incidents,” stated Maate.
The Police spokesperson further confirmed that upon completion of inquiries, the suspects will be arraigned before a court of law to answer charges accordingly.
